Historic Vaughn Residence
Viking completed major restorations on the Historic Vaughn Residence located at 194 Portland Rd. in So. Berwick, ME. The house, originally built in 1785, was severely damaged due to fire in 2003. Thanks to a lot of hard work, attention to detail, and careful coordination, we were able to complete this project in an aggressive time frame. James and Mary were able to move back in for the Holidays!
To Whom It May Concern,
We are writing to this letter to express our great appreciation for the excellent service Viking Restoration has provided in restoring our home.
On June 1, 2003, our 200 year-old colonial home was severely damaged by a fire. It was our good fortune that brought Viking Restoration and Tony Christensen into our life to help us us sort out the stressful and chaotic decisions that needed to be made in reconstructing our house.
At a time when it was greatly needed, Tony's crews appeared daily, always with a smile and cheerful demeanor. As an older home, it presented many unusual problems to be solved but they were always approached and solved thoughfully and with great intelligence. With an eye for the historic nature of the house, the crews beautifully restored the molding, wainscoating, and other important details that had been damaged by the fire. They worked diligently to see that the integrity of the home was maintained and all the crews can't be praised highly enough. Special kudos to should go out to the efforts of the demolition crew, carpenters, and painters for their skill & dedication to the project.
Tony was always available to answer our questions or concerns and his advice and expertise were greatly appreciated. Our thanks should also be addressed to Phil Poirier who was our guiding light during the last phase of the reconstruction. His organization and cheerful voice made the last few hectic weeks much easier for us to survive.
This restoration was a huge undertaking but Tony made it his goal to see that we would be back in our home by Christmas. And so it was that on Christmas Eve our family moved back in to our beautiful restored home. The compassion and care for our family by all the people involved with Viking was tremendous.
We cannot sufficiently express our thanks. If anyone wants a professional and detailed restoration of their property, you cannot find a better company to accomplish this than Viking Restoration. For quality workmanship, intelligent and thoughtful people to perform this task, Viking Restoration is beyond comparison.
With appreciation,
The Vaughn Family

While most of the damage was on the side and in the rear, the front would need to be re-done as well.
It's always amazing to take something from utter devastation and bring it back to light, especially an historic house like this. Happy to be home after one of lifes' more harrowing experiences!
